Pro Cup leader Vanthoor on top in Pre-Qualifying Session

20 September 2014

The Pre-Qualifying Session for the final round of the 2014 Blancpain Endurance Series saw the first rain of the weekend. Before the short shower hit the Nürburgring, Christopher Mies had put the #1 Belgian Audi Club Team WRT Audi on top of the rankings early in the session and the car remained in that top spot, especially since Laurens Vanthoor, leader in the Pro Cup standings, improved his team-mate’s time. Second position changed quite a lot during the session and eventually it was Marco Frezza in the #11 Kessel Racing Ferrari that finished in the runner-up spot, beating Nico Verdonck in the #84 HTP Motorsport Mercedes. Frezza was also the fastest of the Pro-Am drivers, while Alexander Mattschull in the #458 GT Corse by Rinaldi Ferrari was again the quickest in the Gentlemen Trophy.

Qualifying for the Nürburgring 1000 starts at 17:15.
