It was with great sadness that SRO Motorsports Group learned of the passing of businessman and passionate racing enthusiast Walter Derani last weekend.
Among his many achievements, Walter acted as the SRO Latin America partner in the successful GT3 Brazil Championship between 2007 and 2013, also competing as a team owner and driver.
His tremendous enthusiasm for the sport was passed on to his sons, Pipo and Rafael, both of whom competed in GT3 Brazil alongside their father. Rafael was the category’s champion in 2009, while Pipo has gone on to achieve considerable international success in GT and prototype racing.
To his sons, his family and all who knew him, Stephane Ratel and the SRO team wish to send their sincere condolences on Walter’s passing.
