5 questions to Norbert Siedler

Norbert Siedler was fighting for the Blancpain GT Series Sprint title up until the last race last year, but the start of the 2016 season - which he had to do with the old Ferrari 458 Italia - was difficult, to say the least. But now he has switched to the new Ferrari 488 GT3, the Austrian is very much looking forward to the remainder of the season. We catch up with the driver from Rinaldi Racing.

You've switched from the Ferrari 458 to the Ferrari 488: what is the biggest difference between the cars?

"The biggest difference is the aero of the car. It almost feels like a LMP2 car. It is really amazing to drive it!"

Has your strong 2015 season brought you more recognition within the GT racing community?

"Yes, it was definitely good, but we need to work hard to be back at the front this season as well! We are still a private team, and unlike all the factory-supported teams we are a bit limited on testing. But Rinaldi is doing an amazing job and we're still here!"

After fighting for the sprint title up until the end last year, you've had a difficult start to the 2016 season. Any particular reason?

"The old car is no longer competitive, and with the new one, we did not test before Brands Hatch, so that meeting was our first outing with the 488. We will be stronger at the Nürburgring!"

The sprint races now have a lot more cars than last year. Is that more enjoyable to race?

"It is the best series in the world! I really enjoy it."

The longest races of the Blancpain GT Series season are coming up, in Le Castellet and Spa. Are you looking forward to those?

"At the moment, it looks like we could not be in Spa, so if any team would need a good driver for Spa, I would still be available!" (grins)
