5 questions to Alex Moiseev

Russian Alex Moiseev has been driving Ferrari GT cars for a couple of years now. The Kaspersky Motorsport-driver is in his second season in the Blancpain GT Series and is vying for class wins in the AM Cup. Time to catch up with Alex.

You have driven in several GT championships, what do you think of the level of the 2016 Blancpain GT Series?

"It’s a very competitive championship. There is an amazing variety of cars, and the level of the drivers is very high. The different categories give everybody the opportunity to find the right fit. In terms of media coverage it’s also one the most efficient championships."

How hard is it to fight for a good result in your category, with drivers of the Pro and Pro-Am categories around you fighting their battles?

"I find it to be easier this year. I find the right slot in qualifying and also in the race. In terms of being lapped, I can see that there is a very gentle approach from the Pro-drivers, which allows me to stay at the same pace."

You've come close to good results, a podium finish even, but what is necessary to eventually get it?

"Just some more races, the results will come. We have been very consistent this year, but unfortunately some minor mistakes happened. There is always room to improve."

What is your favourite track on the calendar and why?

"Every track his its positive part, but the track I like the most is Spa. It's a very historic track and a bit romantic, too. Especially when you drive the 24 hours, you feel you are doing something that will keep its place in history."

Would you like to see a Russian round back in the Blancpain GT Series?

"It would be very positive for motorsport promotion in Russian, of course. But it would also be the opportunity to draw attention to road safety."
