Rutronik Racing commits to Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS Endurance Cup campaign with Porsche

German squad Rutronik Racing has committed to a Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS Endurance Cup campaign with Porsche.

The team is new to the series, but did make a one-off appearance at the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa in 2021 (below), fielding an all factory line-up of Kévin Estre, Richard Lietz and Sven Müller. The #21 car was considered a potential winner, but suffered bad luck when it was eliminated by an accident during the first hour.

In 2023 the Wilferdingen-based operation will hope for better fortune in the Ardennes as part of the full five-round Endurance Cup campaign. Its driver line-up is set to be announced in the coming weeks.

Team principal Fabian Plentz said: "I am pleased that we were able to put together an extremely competitive programme for the 2023 season together with Porsche Motorsport. Above all, the switch to Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS brings a new challenge that the entire team is ready for."

Klaus Graf, the squad's sporting director, added: “Being able to start with the new Porsche 911 GT3-R in the extremely competitive Endurance Cup is a great sign of trust from our partners and sponsors for Rutronik Racing. We restructured the team during the winter months and spared no expense or effort to meet the requirements of long-distance racing with today's GT3 cars."

Rutronik Racing is the second Porsche squad to publicly commit to the 2023 season following last month's news from Dinamic GT. Both teams will be on-track at the official Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS test days at Circuit Paul Ricard on 7-8 March, while the campaign launches at Monza on 21-23 April.
