Statement from SRO Motorsports Group

SRO Motorsports Group was shocked and saddened to hear of today’s untimely death of JRM’s Team Manager and Technical Director, Nigel Stepney.  Nigel had been a familiar face, friend and colleague in SRO’s paddocks since 2009, and he will be much missed.

Nigel first came into GT racing in 2009, with Gigawave on the Aston Martin DBR9, before becoming part of the Nissan assault on the FIA GT1 World Championship in 2010 and 2011, with Sumo Power GT and then JRM.  In 2011, he took Michael Krumm and Lucas Luhr to the World Championship title in the Nissan GT-R.  Competing in the Blancpain Endurance Series with JRM, he also worked on the development of the Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 car, which won the Pro-Am titles in last year’s series.

His immense knowledge and experience made him a familiar and trusted face in the paddock, and he will be much missed. All at SRO Motorsports Group offer their sincere condolences to his wife Ash and daughter Sabine, as well as to everyone at JRM and the whole Nissan family.
