Lamborghini Juniors Zimmermann and Galbiati named as Grasser Racing's first line-up for 2021

3 March 2021

Grasser Racing has named its first driver line-up ahead of a return to Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS competition this season.

The Austrian outfit will be back on the grid in 2021 after a one-year absence and continues its long-standing relationship with Lamborghini. Grasser will field two of the Italian marque's junior drivers in the five-round Endurance Cup, with Tim Zimmermann and Kikko Galbiati set to compete for Silver class honours this term.

Galbiati is already familiar with the GT World Challenge Europe paddock. The 22-year-old Italian made his series debut last year at Imola and has spent several seasons competing in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo support category, finishing as overall runner-up in 2019.

Zimmermann is new to the series but has experience with both the Huracan GT3 and Grasser Racing in other championships. The 24-year-old has also driven TCR and one-make Porsche machinery during the early years of his competitive career.

“I am very excited about our team returning to GT World Challenge Europe this year," commented team principal Gottfried Grasser. "The Endurance Cup is of great importance to us, and we aim to build on our successful record in this series.

"In the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO, we have a highly competitive package for the race tracks of Europe. I am delighted to have named Tim and Kikko as the first of two strong driver pairings for our return. Last year, we organised a test for the two of them, and they both put in tremendous performances. I am confident that this duo are going to give us a lot of joy in the Silver Cup.”

A second Grasser line-up is due to be announced in the coming weeks. The 2021 season will officially launch with two days of testing at Circuit Paul Ricard (25/26 March), followed by the opening race at Monza on 16-18 April. Grasser has previously taken two wins at the Italian track, the latter setting up its run to the Endurance and overall titles in 2017.
