SuperPole times cancelled for #1 Audi Sport Team WRT car

SuperPole times cancelled for #1 Audi Sport Team WRT car
Following yesterday's SuperPole session for the Total 24 Hours of Spa, the race stewards received a report from the technical delegate regarding the #1 Audi Sport Team WRT R8 LMS, which had recorded the fastest time.

Having examined the timekeeper's data, and after hearing from the competitor's representative, the decision has been taken to annul all SuperPole times set by the #1 car. The technical delegate reported that the car used a modified air tract during the session, which gave it a performance advantage.

As such, the #1 car will be placed ahead of any cars that did not contest SuperPole. Further to this, the car must serve a three-minute stop-go penalty in accordance with the race director's instructions.

The competitor has been reminded of their right to appeal the annulment of the SuperPole times. In accordance with Article 12.2.4 of the FIA International Sporting Code, the three-minute stop-go penalty is not susceptible to appeal.

The decision – which can be viewed in full here – means that the #62 R-Motorsport Aston Martin V12 Vantage will start today's 70th edition Total 24 Hours of Spa from pole position. The race is scheduled to get underway at 16.30 local time.
