The starting entry list for this weekend’s Blancpain GT Series event at Brands Hatch has been confirmed, setting the scene for the second Sprint Cup contest of the season.
Among the headliners will be Pro class heavyweights Belgian Audi Club Team WRT and Grasser Racing, both of whom will field three cars at the British venue.
Team WRT lead the overall standings following the opening Endurance Cup round at Monza, while the Grasser squad took both victories at this event last season with their #63 Lamborghini Huracan GT3.
These outfits will be among the favourites for overall glory, but they face stiff competition from the likes of AKKA ASP with their brace of Mercedes-AMG GT3 machines and the Audi R8s of Attempto Racing, who took home a memorable victory from last month’s opening Sprint Cup event at Zolder.
The Pro-Am field is led by the TP 12-Kessel Racing crew, who took a brace of wins from the Zolder contest thanks to Piti Bhirombhakdi and Carlo van Dam. The sister Kessel Racing Ferrari 488 GT3 has been forced to withdraw from the event due to an injury sustained by regular driver Michael Broniszewski.
We will see a first-timer winner for the season in the Silver Cup category, with the #3 Belgian Audi Club entry that swept both races at Zolder not competing at Brands Hatch. That clears the way for a tight scrap, with local squad Team Parker Racing hoping to emerge on top at their home event.
Qualifying will take place on Saturday at 16.00, with two races taking place on Sunday at 12.00 and 16.30. Both will last 60 minutes and pay equal championship points. All of the action throughout the weekend will be streamed live on the Blancpain GT Series website.
