SMP Racing confirm Aleshin, Rigon and Molina for Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup

SMP Racing will field a trio of top-line professional drivers in their Ferrari 488 GT3 this season.

The Russian outfit are set to contest the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup with Davide Rigon, Miguel Molina and Mikhail Aleshin at the wheel, with the ambitious plans confirmed by SMP boss Boris Rotenberg.

Rigon and Molina return to the team for a second successive year, having contested the Endurance Cup for SMP in 2017. Paired with Viktor Shaytar, they scored their best result at Paul Ricard with a runner-up finish.

In 2018 they will be joined by Aleshin, an established international racer with significant experience in sportscar and single-seater series.

In Rigon and Molina he joins a pair of factory Ferrari drivers with similarly diverse backgrounds. Rigon in particular is no stranger to the Blancpain GT Series, having secured race victories in 2012 and 2013 before returning with SMP last year.

The car will be run by Amato Ferrari’s renowned AF Corse squad and will be one of two SMP-backed efforts in the Blancpain GT Series this season. French outfit AKKA will also field a Pro class SMP car in the Endurance Cup throughout 2018, deploying one of their Mercedes-AMG GT3s.
