Krohn and BMW top close Free Practice 2

After the second free practice session for the Brands Hatch round of the 2017 Blancpain GT Series the top-20 cars were separated by less than a second. Jesse Krohn, driving the #98 ROWE Racing BMW, was the only driver under the 1’24 barrier.

The second free practice session was the final opportunity for teams and drivers to prepare for the qualifying session later this afternoon. Judging by how small the gaps were, that session promises to be extremely close.

The quickest times of the second free practice were set at the end of the session, with Jesse Krohn in the #98 ROWE Racing BMW topping the time sheets. With a 1’23.972 the Finnish driver was the only one to break the 1’24 barrier. Series leader Franck Perera looked set to match that time earlier in the session, but the Frenchman preferred not to complete his lap and drive the #84 Mercedes-AMG Team HTP Motorsport car into pitlane. It eventually ended up in third, behind the #1 Belgian Audi Club Team WRT R8 of Christopher Mies.

Fastest of the Pro-Am drivers was again Jules Gounon in the #87 AKKA ASP Mercedes-AMG, setting the fifth fastest time overall. Lewis Williamson was just inside the top-20 with the #42 Strakka Racing McLaren, heading the Silver Cup timesheets.

The Qualifying Session for the second Sprint event of the season starts later this afternoon, at 16.25 local time. It will be streamed live on the official Blancpain GT Series website.
