Dries Vanthoor quickest in interrupted free practice session

The free practice session for the season finale of the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup at the Nürburgring proved to be rather agitated, with several drivers having difficulties in keeping off the grass. Eventually it was Dries Vanthoor in the #1 Belgian Audi Club Team WRT R8 who set the fastest time of the session, and the young Belgian was the only one to break the 1’56 barrier, lapping in 1’55.741.

Behind Vanthoor everything was bunched up, with five cars within the same tenth of a second. The #84 AMG-Team HTP Motorsport Mercedes of Jazeman Jaafar was leading that pack – 0.396 behind Vanthoor – from the #75 ISR Audi of Filip Salaquarda.

Fastest of the Pro-Am drivers was Nicolas Armindo in the #77 Attempto Racing Porsche, while Rino Mastronardi in the #51 AF Corse Ferrari topped the Am Cup rankings.

Just before halfway the session was interrupted to clear some oil off the track and the session was also cut short by just over ten minutes, when the #7 Bentley Team M-Sport Continental hit the barriers in turn 1.
