5 Questions to... Ezequiel Perez-Companc

Ezequiel Perez-Companc is one of the young newcomers in the 2016 Blancpain GT Series The 22-year-old from Argentina had a more than positive start to the season, scoring points in Misano, sharing the AF Corse Ferrari 458 with Raffaele Giammaria. Perez-Companc is now very much looking forward to the big endurance races that are coming up.

Did you expect to score points at your first event in Misano?

"It was really a surprise! Being able to fight wheel to wheel with legends like Bernd Schneider was only a dream I had until Misano. We know we have a big limiter by choosing the 458 over the new generation cars, but we are doing a really good job in squeezing all of its potential."

What do you enjoy the most, the sprint races or the endurance races?

"Tough question. I would say endurance races. At Silverstone I did my first one-hour stint, I really enjoyed having to drive for a longer time; you need to think more. In my opinion, we have a really good potential for endurance races. For Sprint we depend too much on the circuit, because we don’t have as much downforce as the new generation cars have."

Will you continue with the 458 for the rest of the season? Or will you change to the 488?

"Yes, we will continue with the 458. The original plan is to learn as much as I can from my teammates and from this category. Race by race I am getting quicker and quicker. I am learning a lot from these guys."

AF Corse always has plenty of cars at the start. Is there any interaction, exchange of information between the drivers of different cars?

"For us, there is not much exchange of information. This is because we are driving a 458, and the rest of the AF guys are with a 488. It is crazy to see the huge gap of performance between both cars when you watch an on-board video of the 488, specially when it is driven by Giancarlo or Alessandro."

Are you looking forward to the night racing at Le Castellet and in Spa?

"Oh yes! I am really looking forward to these two races, in particular because there is night racing. Racing in the 24 hours of Spa in the Pro category is a dream I have since I was a kid. I want to be as much prepared as possible, in order to give my best and help the team get a good result in the Pro category."
