The second free practice session for the Italian round of the 2015 Blancpain Sprint Series was held in the dark, therefore being an excellent opportunity for teams and drivers to prepare for tomorrow's qualifying race, which has a 20.45 start.
In still damp conditions it took the drivers a while to get up to speed, but eventually it was Mirko Bortolotti in the #63 Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini that set the fastest time, in its first Blancpain Sprint Series meeting. Series leader Robin Frijns was again among the frontrunners, 0.148 of the Lamborghini. In third was the second of the Grasser Huracans, driven by Jeroen Mul. The Dutchman was also the quickest of the Silver Cup drivers.
Even though conditions were damp to wet all through the session, the differences at the end were relatively small, with the top-9 cars within the same second. Ninth overall was the #71 GT Russian Mercedes in the hands of Marko Asmer.
The weather over Misano should improve on Saturday, with the qualifying session starting at 14.00. The Qualifying Race starts at 20.45.
