René Rast sets the quickest time in the second free practice at Slovakia Ring

The second free practice session for the Slovak round of the Blancpain Sprint Series started in hotter conditions than free practice 1 this morning, which explains why the lap times were slightly slower. Teams continued with their set-up work however, using every second of the 80-minute session to adapt their cars to the almost 6 km long Slovakiaring.

For a long time the quickest time of the session was in the hands of Jeroen Bleekemolen at the wheel of the #28 Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini, but in the final minutes of the session, his time was improved by a couple of other drivers.

Eventually, René Rast was the only one to break the two-minute barrier in this session, lapping in 1’59.993 at the wheel of his #2 Belgian Audi Club Team WRT Audi. Team-mate Stéphane Ortelli, quickest this morning, made it an Audi 1-2, clocking a 2’00.116. Matheus Stumpf was best of the rest at the wheel of the #30 BMW Sports Trophy Team Brasil BMW, only 0.237 behind Rast.

Mateusz Lisowski was quickest of the Silver Cup drivers (and 9th overall), while Sascha Halek finished on top in the Pro-Am Trophy (and 15th overall).

Qualifying Practice starts tomorrow at 10:00, Qualifying Race at 14:45.
