In Memoriam: Michel Ferté

In Memoriam: Michel Ferté

SRO Motorsports Group wishes to express its sadness at the passing of Michel Ferté. A talented driver who enjoyed success in single-seaters and sports cars, the Frenchman worked with Stéphane Ratel during the early days of SRO.

Indeed, Ferté participated in all three seasons of the BPR Global Series. He earned a pair of race wins in 1994 at the wheel of a Venturi, and another in 1995 with a Ferrari. At the same time, he and Ratel teamed up to create RFR Sport. Competing as Pilot Racing thanks to a sponsorship agreement, the team entered the 1996 Le Mans 24 Hours with Ferté among the drivers of a Ferrari F40 LM.

Ferté was also on the grid for the inaugural Lamborghini Diablo Trophy race in 1996, alongside the likes of Jean-Pierre Jarrier, Gérard Larrousse and Olivier Grouillard. This was the forerunner of the current Lamborghini Super Trofeo, a mainstay of SRO events.

Among his other achievements in the sport, Ferté was the 1983 French Formula 3 Champion, finished third in European Formula 2 the following season, and was runner-up at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1991. SRO wishes to extend its sympathies to his family and friends at this difficult time.
