Not much action during very wet free practice

The Free Practice session for the Silverstone round of the Blancpain Endurance Series started under heavy rain. Almost half of the teams decided to wait for better conditions, but when after 25 minutes the intensity of the rain increased driving became impossible. With 30 minutes to go the #19 Black Falcon Mercedes, in the hands of Hubert Haupt, was the first to venture out again, but shortly afterwards the session was interrupted, when the #111 Kessel Racing Ferrari hit the barriers and caused a red flag.

In the end the best time was set by Michael Caine at the wheel of the #44 Oman Racing Team Aston Martin. Franck Perera in the #93 Pro GT by Almeras Porsche, second overall, took top honours in the Pro-Am category, while the #25 Sainteloc Racing Audi was quickest in the Gentlemen Trophy.
