Team Profile: Garage 59

Garage 59 enters its fifth season of GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS competition in 2020, with the British squad fielding a pair of Aston Martins in the Endurance Cup.

The team traces its origins back to CRS Racing, which achieved success in Formula Renault, British GT and FIA GT under the stewardship of Andrew Kirkaldy, Chris Niarchos and Chris Goodwin. In 2016 it was relaunched as Garage 59 and tasked with leading McLaren's assault on the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup with the British marque's 650S GT3.

Success came instantly. The crew of Rob Bell, Shane van Gisbergen and Come Ledogar won on debut at Monza and again at Circuit Paul Ricard, ultimately clinching the drivers' title in their maiden Endurance Cup campaign. The team launched an Am Cup effort in 2017 and challenged for the class title in 2018, after which the McLaren partnership came to a close.

Garage 59 was reborn in 2019, with Kirkaldy and Goodwin forming a new leadership structure with Alexander West, who first joined the team as a driver in 2017. A new partnership with Aston Martin was established, with the team once again tackling the Am Cup and challenging for overall honours.

The British squad continues with its two-car programme in 2020. West and Goodwin are joined by Aston factory star Jonny Adam in a Pro-Am effort, which runs alongside a Silver Cup challenger. Operating from a state-of the-art technical centre in Leicestershire, Garage 59 also runs the AMR Drivers’ Club and builds historic racing engines.
