Team Profile: AKKA ASP

AKKA ASP Team was founded in 1999 as Auto Sport Promotions (ASP) by racing driver Jerome Policand and has since grown into a leading GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS outfit. Based in Rabastens, it has been present since the very first Blancpain Endurance Series race in 2011, running Ferrari machinery during its early years and earning Am class honours in the 2013 Endurance Cup.

Two significant changes would lay the foundations for a new level of success. In 2015, the team partnered with AKKA Technologies to become AKKA ASP. Then, in 2016, it switched to the Mercedes-AMG brand and launched its most serious bid yet for overall glory.

The bet paid off: 2016 saw AKKA ASP finish as runner-up at Total 24 Hours of Spa and capture a maiden Sprint Cup win at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya; a first Endurance triumph came at the same venue the following year.

The 2017 season also saw AKKA ASP secure third overall at the Total 24 Hours of Spa, with GT newcomer Raffaele Marciello turning in a star performance. The Italian was to prove a perfect fit with Policand's squad and, in 2018, captured the overall Blancpain GT Series drivers' title. AKKA ASP earned the teams' crown, while Marciello also scooped the Sprint Cup championship alongside Michael Meadows to cap a stellar year.

The 2019 season brought more success. AKKA ASP clinched the Sprint Cup teams' crown for the first time, with Marciello and new teammate Vincent Abril taking more race wins than any other pairing. Policand's squad also cemented its status as the Silver Cup benchmark by taking an unprecedented sweep of teams' and drivers' titles.

Marciello remains at the forefront of the team's top-tier attack in 2020, while Silver Cup and Pro-Am efforts make for a varied programme. The latter has been a central part of AKKA ASP's activities, with experienced gentleman drivers such as Jean-Luc Beaubelique often competing alongside rising talents like Tristan Vautier, Jules Gounon and more recently Jim Pla. In addition to its GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS commitments, AKKA ASP runs multiple cars in Championnat de France FFSA GT and handled the French entry at the 2019 FIA Motorsport Games.
