Team Profile: AF Corse

AF Corse ranks among the world's foremost GT racing outfits. The Piacenza-based squad's extensive list of achievements includes several titles in what is now GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS, as well as multiple class wins at the Total 24 Hours of Spa.

Like many of its rivals, AF Corse was founded by a former racing driver. Amato Ferrari launched his squad in 1995 and, though not related to the founder of the Maranello brand, his operation has become synonymous with the Prancing Horse.

A multiple GT2 class title-winner in the FIA GT Championship, AF Corse was on the grid at Monza in 2011 for the inaugural Endurance Cup event. It is among a handful of teams that has contested every race since, becoming the established benchmark in the Pro-Am category. The line-up of Louis Machiels, Niek Hommerson and Andrea Bertolini is among the most enduring crews in the series, earning a pair of drivers' titles and class wins at the Total 24 Hours of Spa. As of 2020, the trio continues to represent AF Course at Endurance rounds.

The team also captured the 2015 Endurance title in the Pro-Am class thanks to Duncan Cameron and Matt Griffin, while its list of Total 24 Hours of Spa achievements features four successive Pro-Am wins (2012–2015) and an Am Cup victory in 2014. The team has also enjoyed growing success with full-pro crews, notably under the SMP Racing banner, with the #72 Ferrari becoming a leading contender during recent seasons.

In 2020 AF Corse will run two cars under its own name. The #51 Ferrari is a new addition to the series and features a full-factory line-up of Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado and Nicklas Nielsen competing for Endurance Cup honours. The #52 machine continues to run with the crew of Hommerson, Machiels and Bertolini, with the latter pair also teaming up to contend for the Sprint Cup. In addition to its own cars, AF Corse handles the SMP Racing machine in the Endurance Cup and works with Sky Tempesta Racing on its #93 Ferrari, which contests the full GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS season in the Pro-Am class.
