Brands Hatch extends GT World Challenge Europe deal through 2022

17 January 2020

GT World Challenge Europe will continue to visit Brands Hatch until at least 2022 following a new agreement between circuit owner MotorSport Vision (MSV) and SRO Motorsports Group.

The three-year extension ensures that one of the championship's Sprint Cup rounds will head to the Kent venue for the next three seasons, including this year's previously announced fixture on the full Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit.

The GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup events comprise two races of one hour in length for race-prepared supercars, and form part of a larger championship structure with longer Endurance Cup rounds in the overarching GT World Challenge Europe. The championship has now fully integrated into the SRO's overall GT World Challenge structure which sees manufacturers competing over three continents in GT3-specification racing cars.

The Brands Hatch round has traditionally taken place in May, and has served as the opening round of the Sprint Cup since last season. The event has become a flagship international event for the Kent venue with thousands of racegoers descending upon the circuit for a weekend of international sports car action, supercar displays and high-calibre support racing.

Stephane Ratel, SRO Motorsports Group Founder & CEO: "I am very pleased to confirm that the successful partnership between GT World Challenge Europe and Brands Hatch has been extended for a further three years. The circuit has been an immensely popular destination for fans and competitors since it first joined the Sprint Cup calendar in 2014, drawing excellent crowds to enjoy world-class GT racing. Brands Hatch holds considerable history for SRO Motorsports Group, so it is very satisfying to know that our relationship will continue over the coming years."

David Willey, MSV Motorsport Events Manager: "I'm delighted that we'll be hosting GT World Challenge Europe for at least another three years. International sports car racing on the legendary full Grand Prix circuit at Brands Hatch is always a thrill to behold so it's fantastic that we've secured this major fixture for the future. We really enjoy working with the superb team at SRO, both internationally and domestically, and look forward to continuing to develop that relationship with these Brands Hatch events."

The GT World Challenge Europe returns to Brands Hatch this year on 2-3 May and entries are expected from some of the world's most iconic performance car manufacturers including Lamborghini, Mercedes-AMG, and Aston Martin. Discounted ticket sales and more information is available here.
