Noble joins GT Sport MOTUL Team RJN for Barcelona Blancpain finale

Young Scottish driver Colin Noble is set to make his Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup debut for GT Sport MOTUL Team RJN at this year’s series finale at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

20-year-old Noble will join Brit Struan Moore and Mexican racer Ricardo Sanchez aboard the No. 22 Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 for the three-hour Spanish event.

The Scotsman is familiar with Nissan power in 2018 competing in the European Le Mans Series, Michelin Le Mans Cup and UK LMP3 Cup – all with Ecurie Ecosse & Nielsen Racing in Nissan- powered Ligier LMP3s.

Noble has won races in the UK this year and is looking to defend his 2017 championship win with only one round remaining. He has four podium finishes in European competition - including a pair in his first season in the ELMS.

He sits second in the Michelin Le Mans Cup with two rounds to go, and well placed in the ELMS, 18- points off the lead with two rounds remaining.

“We’re looking forward to seeing Colin in action in the Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3. His results in LMP3 competition show that he is a young racer with tremendous talent,” GT Sport MOTUL Team RJN boss Bob Neville said.

“Not only has he raced in prototypes but he has also won in historic Super Touring cars so while this will be his first GT3 outing, his broad range of experience should serve him well.”

Noble also is a former British Karting Champion and competed in Formula Renault, both in the UK and Europe.

“I’m looking forward to making my Blancpain Series debut with GT Sport MOTUL Team RJN and driving the Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 for the first time,” Noble said.

“This is an incredible opportunity for me to step into a very professional series with some of the best GT drivers in the world.

“I’m going to have a lot to learn, but I have a great group of drivers at RJN to learn from – both in our car plus the No. 23 car as well.

“It’s a great thrill for me to be in the same team with these guys aboard a Nissan.”

GT Sport MOTUL Team RJN will also contest the final Blancpain round with the No. 23 Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 entry of Alex Buncombe, Lucas Ordóñez, and Matt Parry.

The Barcelona weekend also doubles as the European finale for the Nissan GT Sport Cup – Nissan and PlayStation’s virtual racing competition where gamers can win the chance to visit the 2018 NISMO Festival in Japan.
