2013 TOTAL 24 HOURS OF SPA: A THRILLING EDITION

The entry list of the 2013 edition for the TOTAL 24 HOURS OF SPA will be confirmed during the official tests to be held on Wednesday 3rd July at the legendary circuit of Spa-Francorchamps.

Without revealing details of the grid just yet, it is clear that the 2013 edition will be an exceptional year which will see the most prestigious manufacturers competing. The TOTAL 24 HOURS OF SPA in 2013 will undoubtedly be the most spectacular GT race in the word. In the meantime, the groundwork of celebrating the 65th edition of the race, on and off the track, is well underway to allow fans to experience a truly spectacular weekend.

In 2012, SRO MOTORSPORT GROUP conducted a fan satisfaction survey. One year later with the support of partners TOTAL, loyal official fuel supplier for 20 years, BLANCPAIN and PIRELLI, the 2013 edition will benefit from most of the comments made by the spectators’ 12-months previously.

Party Rock at the Total 24 Hours of Spa!

It has become traditional that TOTAL, BLANCPAIN and SRO MOTORSPORT GROUP invite all the fans to a free concert on Saturday night. After two years of success thanks to highly motivated artists like Bob Sinclar, Faithless and Milk Inc. this year we are proud to announce the confirmation of REDFOO (from LMFAO) and his crew for a memorable PARTY ROCK experience worthy of Ibiza itself.

It will be a phantasmagorical show where it is advised to wear rain attire in case of a ‘Champagne Shower’! Ace DJ - ICE KREAM will be back to everyone’s delight while DJ ND, DAVY D and MC FLEX will be there to warm up the crowd.

NRJ will be the partner of TOTAL 24 HOURS OF SPA throughout the week and will set-up many additional surprises.

The Parade, a special moment

Unique, in the motorsport world, all the cars entered in the TOTAL 24 HOURS OF SPA, the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo, BRCC, British and Dutch GT4 will go on the traditional parade on Wednesday 24th July from the circuit to the scenic Spa town centre!

This will be a direct link between the public and the drivers during the parade. These moments sharing the communal experience of the race will be followed by a huge party in the heart of the city with music, autographs sessions, podiums and driver interviews. This year, for the first time, the parade will be preceded by a special publicity cavalcade (details will be given very soon) with some of the most beautiful supercars in the world.

Lotto Village: 100% entertainment

The LOTTO VILLAGE will be bigger and better this season with the famous Car Wash Show, the set-up of a Kid’s Village (500 m2 dedicated to children from 2 to 14 years). There will also be many activities such as driving a 4x4 at the top of the famous Raidillon. PIRELLI partner of the Blancpain Endurance Series will be present in the village with the PIRELLI ACTIVATION EXPERIENCE, from simulators to Pit Stop Challenges and much more.

There will also be manufacturers’ exhibitions, many shops, fairground amusements and hot air balloons. The new, covered catering areas on the 7,004 km of track and the famous panoramic restaurant which dominates the track and will all remain open throughout the whole race. 

Inside the Total 24 Hours of Spa: Open House days

During the 24 hours’ race week, many events will be organised for fans who can enter the ‘backstage’ of the event to get closer to their heroes. Many teams will open their garages on Wednesday morning from 10:00 to 12:00 and will welcome enthusiasts to view the cars, talk to the drivers and engineers, as well as giving insight in to decoding a GT3 car, finding out about the strategy of the team, the refuelling procedure and much more.

Regarding the organisation side of the event there will be a chance to visit race control, timekeeping, the PIRELLI race support area and the TOTAL competition petrol station in a rare chance to understand how the most beautiful race in the world works.

As well as these exciting opportunities there will also be open pits to all public on Thursday and Friday evenings as well as at midday on Saturday. Autograph sessions will be held on each of these days.

New multi-media systems for fans to monitor the race throughout the 24 hours will be available to keep track of the action.

ROFGO Museum: On the roof of the GT world

Apart from both McLarens entries, the Gulf Racing team will be at the heart of the weekend with a unique museum that will bring together the great ROFGO collection. Among the legends exhibited will be the winning Le Mans Aston Martin DBR9, the iconic Ford GT40 and Porsche 917 cars, the fabulous McLaren F1 GTR and CAN-AM cars. In Europe for the first time, the collection will be presented on the F1 terrace just above the garage of the Gulf Racing team. Tickets and information to follow shortly.

Go-Kart track: Time to move up a gear

The Royal Automobile Club of Belgium go-kart track, near the race track at Blanchimont, will be open throughout the week of the TOTAL 24 HOURS OF SPA.
Connected to the village by a shuttle, the go-kart track will allow all fans to live out their passion.

Blancpain GT Parade: Style and performance

On Friday evening and Saturday at noon, it will be time for the Supercars. The track will be overwhelmed by the most beautiful cars in the world. Lamborghini and Blancpain will present 50 models to celebrate the 50 years of the Italian manufacturer. Aston Martin will celebrate its 100th anniversary and Porsche the 50th anniversary of their timeless 911 model. The prestigious RACB club will complete the exhibitions in the paddock with Audi, BMW, Corvette, Ferrari, Ford, Jaguar, McLaren and Nissan, displays.

Live and delayed coverage is set to be aired on “La Une” and “La Deux” channels (including the start of the race).On radio, Vicacité will be the “Warm Up” radio in the weeks before the race and many hours of live coverage will be available on Classic 21 during the weekend.

Saving the best for last, you will be able to watch the race finish as well as the podium ceremony live on “La Une” immediately after the Hungarian Grand Prix.
