Grasser-Lamborghini paces opening practice session at Brands Hatch

The #19 Grasser Racing entry has topped this morning’s opening Blancpain GT Series practice session at Brands Hatch.

Ezequiel Perez Companc was at the wheel of the Lamborghini Huracan GT3, setting a benchmark time of 1m25.754s to beat the #17 Belgian Audi Club Team WRT machine by 0.2s. The R8 LMS was in the hands of local ace Stuart Leonard, who will share with Frederic Vervisch this weekend.

The #63 Grasser machine of Mirko Bortolotti and Christian Engelhart – which swept the Brands Hatch event last season – completed the top-three in FP1.

The session was stopped for a little over 15 minutes following a sizeable accident for the #35 SMP-Mercedes.

Alexey Korneev was at the wheel of the AKKA-run machine when he lost control on the exit of turn eight. The car made heavy contact with the barriers, which required repairs before the session could resume. The driver was unharmed in the incident.

A second free practice session will take place at 12.30, followed by qualifying at 16.00. All of the action will be streamed live on the Blancpain GT Series website.
