FIA GT Nations Cup ready to take centre stage at Bapco Bahrain GT Festival

The 2018 season will come to a spectacular conclusion this weekend when the inaugural FIA GT Nations Cup plays a starring role at the Bapco Bahrain GT Festival.

Staged at the world-leading Bahrain International Circuit, the nation-versus-nation concept will see 18 countries gunning for pride and glory in top-level GT3 machinery. All line-ups are formed by Silver/Bronze pairings, with both drivers holding the passport of the country they represent on-track.

A busy two-day schedule will keep competitors on their toes from start to finish, beginning on Friday with two free practice runs and qualifying sessions. Saturday will see a pair of qualifying races take place, setting the grid for a deciding final race under the lights. When the chequered flag flies, the 2018 FIA GT Nations Cup champions will be crowned.

The competition is sure to be fierce, with combatants drawn from Europe, Asia, Australasia, North America and South America all battling in the colours of their homelands. Seven leading automotive brands will be represented among the 18 competing nations, with Audi, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Nissan, Mercedes, McLaren and Porsche machinery set to hit the track.

The FIA GT Nations Cup will headline a weekend of action-packed racing, with the GT4 International Cup and Bahrain Classic Challenge also set to play a leading role at the Bapco Bahrain GT Festival. To add to the excitement, McLaren Automotive’s new 720S GT3 will make its global public debut at the event, with a demonstration run on the circuit and paddock display, ahead of its maiden competitive outing over the coming weeks.

What’s more, a host of family entertainment that includes live music, acrobatics and stunt shows will ensure that the Bapco Bahrain GT Festival provides something suited to every taste. With the FIA GT Nations Cup taking centre stage, a thrilling international contest is in prospect.

Qualifying, qualifying races and the main event will be streamed live on www.fiagtnationscup.com website and Facebook page.
